I don't understand why many TBers here are concerned! this is just business. Nobody buys a successful company to ruining it and loss a lot of money.

So I take it you are new around here? (insert smiley to indicate humor not d-baggery, I mean, I'm a d-bag but I'm not trying here)

Acquisitions such as this seem to have the acquired product line take a down turn the majority of the time. Hope that doesn't occur here, but if it doesn't at least I can rest easy knowing that aguilar was never my cup of amptone to begin with.

That was my first thought! Now my entire Aguilar rig is pre-Korg vintage!!

I'm so glad that Fender bought Genz-Benz and dissolved it.
Otherwise, there would be no Genzler Amplification (which I love).
There is normal consolidation in any mature industry, I see this as a natural progression, with the eventual settling into two to three really big global players, and a smattering of small operations that fill a niche.

I started with the MS20 mini. Then ordered the new MS20 FS ( still on order! ).

And then I was lucky enough to score a new KARP 2600 FS. The holy grail.

Yep, Korg fan here. And if you never played the Korg iMS20 app, check it out on a large iPad. It was that app that drove me to the above hoarding

I will definitely do that - thanks for the heads up!! BTW, right after I bought that Poly 800 in the mid 80's, I also purchased a Roland Juno 106, which I midied with the Poly - Gee-zuz, that was a 1-2 punch for the time.

My Spector from 2010 has an Aguilar preamp in it from the factory.

I have the SVT-7 Pro. I played the Aguilar DB750 for years at a mega-church I played for and that is my other favorite.

Funny you talk about this as I was considering comparing both to check if the Aguilar is really worth it against the SVT 7. Which is a fantastic amp to me.

Love that SVT 7. To me, an Aguilar amp was always an 'Ampeg on Steroids' in the same way that some folks refer to a Sadowsky as a 'Fender on Steroids'.

Yamaha has Ampeg; now Korg has Aguilar. Curious to see how crazy-digital the collaborative efforts get when the engineers from these companies start mind-melding.

Hey modeling is getting pretty good. Wonder how close we are to someone finally nailing power tube overdrive convincingly. My thoughts are that it's quite possible one of these two partnerships can do it.

It had appeared to me that much of the manufacturing had been shipped overseas. That left final assembly and QA in house. Pickups seemed to be mostly in-house though.

Well... That's exactly what I said to myself when I tried the DB750 2 weeks ago on a DB810! And I play Sadowsky basses!
To me the SV7 Pro is probably the most perfect amp for me. Lightweight, very powerful, compact, great tone, very useful compressor, very well thought... I just wish the fan was a bit quieter and the amp was 2 ohms capable.

Been reading all the comments and would like to pass on a potentially relevant anecdote.

I worked with a fairly large regional chain restaurant for 10 years. When I started, all recipes with only few exceptions were in-house scratch- made small batches. I watched over the course of 5 acquisitions as more and more product started being trucked in. At first, it didn't seem so wrong; mostly proprietary branded products, same recipes simply made by a contract manufacturer. Little by little it started dwindling down to foodservice brand. By the time I left there was literally 1 proprietary recipe being brought in. The guest count was so horribly low by then 1/4 of the staff could handle the busiest shifts.

I like finding pennies to pinch, too, but if the net result of the savings doesnt equal growth it isnt worth it.

Fingers crossed that Yammie and Korg understand this. Id hate to see bean counters being responsible for cheapening the brands by nit- picking the more expensive parts and popping in "equivalent" cheaper ones.

I'm hopeful and feel confident these two well established big-boys already know this and will truly let their new adopted family members be themselves.
