Korg Pitchblack needs "at least 600 mA"??

I've recently got the tuner and have had noise problems. Now I've used a cheapo 500mA power supply and a daisy chain for the two effect pedals I used. I've ordered a a new higher quality supply which provides 5x120mA. But that's not nearly enough. The manual states that I need a power supply which provides at least 600mA. What do I do?

Either they calculated in some rather generous headroom, or this pedal draws a huge amount of power...

Good thing I read this. I was thinking of maybe putting one on my pedalboard, but don't feel like sacrificing 2 outputs of my Voodoo lab PP2 + current doubler cable.

By comparison: Polytune:
Current Draw: 45-50 mA (typical use)
... which is more standard.

Update:
After some research it seems this is a "worst case" requirement.
Should be no problem.

It is very common to specify a power supply that is much larger than what the device needs to operate.

One of the old-school “rules of thumb” is that a power supply operated at its ratings can produce 10% of AC ripple. A larger supply than needed will have less ripple, with less work load and will operate at a much cooler temperature. These common assumptions were accepted worse case standards when power supplies were nothing more than a step-down transformer, diode rectifier (AC to DC) and capacitor filters (DC storage and smoothing).

Ripple example: If a 10VDC supply was rated at 500mA it would have 10% of AC ripple or 1V of AC riding on top of the DC voltage with a 500mA draw. Now if the same supply had a 50mA draw you could expect the AC ripple to be no more than 0.1Vac.

Today we have very clean, regulated and cheap power supplies available… but someone will find an old DC adapter from the 70’s in a junk drawer and will try to use it. ;)

Don't worry about it. It works fine from a 9V battery. Fat chance of getting this type of current from one. So, yeah it's a Furphy.

It'd need incandescent lights in it to require that amount of draw. Always had one on my pedal board, always neglected it's power requirements, never had an issue.

The Eventide pedal on the other hand - oh yes, they will reboot with not enough juice.

Pitchblack pedals - as long as they can light up they're fine. Good tuners too, so enjoy one :-)
 
I haven't had problems running my Pitchblack from a single VL Pedal Power 9v output. I formerly used a Roland PS-10 (?) and had no attendant issues. Perhaps you have a bad Pitchblack or there's some other cause for the noise?
