Korg Pitchblack Pro Tuner

It's here. Seems to work fine - haven't played with all the display modes yet.
Tell you what I do -not- like tho - primary input is on the front, but the Output is on the back(!). So this pretty much gives you a rackmount tuner is useless in actual rack-mounted operation... Do you have am amp with a rear-panel input? Does anyone?
Interestingly, the input jack for the Mute footswitch is on the front - along with a button that does the same thing.
This seemed obvious to me in the first 10 seconds of use - were no actual musicians consulted for the panel design? Disappointing...
3 solutions come to mind. 1) grind a cable passthrough slot in one of the rackmount ears (which are indeed plastic and don't appear that robust - but this product weight nothing...). 2) run yet another instrument input cable from the parallel out jack on my DI (in which case the Mute function (with its useless front-mounted jack) does not function. 3) If I'm using wireless, the wireless receiver has a separate Tuner Out output. And once again the Mute function does not function...
So - it works as a tuner. As a _rack mount_ tuner it has some fundamental flaws...

Slotted the left rack ear (they are soft styrene plastic) to pass the Output to the front where it can be useful...

I put a rackmount screw in the place where the slot is because I think it makes it look a little more finished - I doubt it contributes any strength.

I've had 2 Pitchblack tuners in the last year....the first one I dropped from a height of less than 3 feet and it broke....but I really liked how it worked and was smaller than the Boss Tuner (I have 2 of those, they never broke, and their over 15 years old).....the second Pitblack I've had for less than 6 months and it's been kept in my gigbag and never dropped and it just stopped working.....needless to say I'm not buying a third....I like my Boss tuners but I was looking for a smaller format so I'm trying TC Electronics now....if that doesn't work I guess I go back to Boss
bought 2 Pitchblack in the last year and both have broken within months....the first one feel 3 feet but the 2nd has been kept in my gigbag...needless to say I won't buy a third

I see an answer to my question in another thread. He had a pedal version so I think his post was just a mistake.
The reason I was asking is that I've had the pedal version for a year or so, and it's seen some abuse but still lives on. I have a rack version coming tomorrow since I had an Amazon gift card ready to expire. I figured I'd give this version a try. I know the rack version is all plastic so I was curious about durability. I would think it's pretty safe in my rack otherwise I'd have more expensive and fragile gear already broken from normal transportation.

It is plastic - including the rack ears - but it is -very- light. And despite being a rack-mount, it's only about 4" deep so there is not a lot of leverage load on those ears.
I will also mention here for completeness (it was brought up in another thread) that all the drama about having the output jack on the back of the rack was kinda pointless because A/B testing revealed that it is indeed quite a tone-suck so I don't use the mute passthrough after all - I run it from either the parallel-out on the B7K or the tuner-out on the wireless.

That's what I figured. I'm planning just to run from my "tuner out" on the back of my preamp. The only jacks I'd use on the front are the cable tester jacks.
Installed into my rack without any troubles. My single gripe: wall wart is large and oriented such that it plugs into one outlet and blocks the one next to it on my Furman power strip. I wish it was the same form factor as a 1 Spot. Otherwise, flawless.
Boss TU-3 Chromatic Tuner Pedal
I need a tuner which simply sits on my amp with a feed from the tuner out and does what I need when I want, and can be SEEN on a dark stage. Chromatic is best, I can live without that if necessary. Is this Boss unit any good for that? I have another Boss which is pitch-ass black on a dark stage and that does not work for me.
I use a rack mount head at the moment but I do NOT want a rack mount tuner.

You might want to start a new thread, since this one's for a specific Korg rack mount tuner...
I have no experience with a Boss TU-3 (never seen one, even) so this might not be your best source of information.

I got one of these last week,and it makes a popping noise when I press the mute button. Sending it back Monday. Bummer.
