Kramer bass reversed headbstock

Already found that but only guitars as far as I could see. Am I missing something?

Wow, how one sided of them.
I've collected the original vintage hair Kramers for decades (pre bass player days), haven't looked into the basses much. With the headstock on yours I think 2001 is about right.

The neck plate is quite distinctive. Love the cast look.


The OPs looks the same only righty and red. His neckplate has an S00 serial number, a slightly different logo on the neckplate and is missing the striker on the TRC. Other than that it looks the same. Reverse headstock, same neckplate and the reverse headstock.

I really like this bass. Sounds like nothing else I have. Still play it occasionally.

Verysimilar to a Kramer Stryker bass i had. Made in the far east, fairly good quality, build wise, but sounded very bland. Quite light, and the neck qas comfortable to play

I agree on bland sound, im looking into a preamp to give the sound some life. What would you recommend. Don't use bass amp on stage, we're all ear monitors.

The sound is down to the dual rail pickups. A pre-amp might not help in the way you want/need. Changing the pickups will make it sound more conventional and change the sound much more than a pre-amp will. I can't really advise on what pickups. I like the sound of it.

An ex GF of mine had a bass similar to this & I thought it played and sounded quite good for a gnarly gritty rock type sound. Neck thru , good fret work , brass nut , just felt well built. If you can pick up cheap you’re getting a quality instrument.

Tech 21 VT DI Bass Or Bass driver are always a good move. The Ampeg scr/DI is a solid choice & my personal fav is the Darkglass B7k Ultra. It is a cab sim on the XLR out and it’s super flexible , it can be very clean or just slightly gritty or over the top overdrive. It’s great for IEM’s which I use mostly as well. My fav settings in it are mostly clean with just a touch of grit and clang. If I need more overdrive I add another pedal.

If you want some dirt, I'd have a look at the MXR M80 DI+ . Had one on my board for a few years and love it.
