It was a beast! It sounded like thunder, and like a piano. Amazing.Bad Ass! How did you like it? How would you describe the tone of it? What were the pickups and electronics used?
Interesting. Know anything about the preamp used?It was a beast! It sounded like thunder, and like a piano. Amazing.
2 Dimarzio P pups, with a active pre and passive switch, 5 position rotary filter and stereo outputs. The body was maple sandwiched between cherry walnut, Leo Quan bridge.
Well I remember that it was proprietary, it gave a definite volume boost, also it had coil taps for each pickup too. Honestly when I bought it I'd only been playing a couple of years and really didn't know what was what...haha. I chose the XL-9Interesting. Know anything about the preamp used?
No dead spots, if I left it in car trunk in the winter..that neck would be pretty cold and hard too tune.Is there any noticeable tonal differences between the aluminum neck and wood necks?
: just a 450B, a Forum III, and a couple of Dukes.Try using the Search function for "The Kramer Club" here; someone is pretty sure to have one, or know someone who does. I'm a member, but don't have one of those: just a 450B, a Forum III, and a couple of Dukes.

Also, how did you wind up with such a huge Kramer collection and still not have an 8-string?![]()

To answer your question, I am not a big 8-string bass fan. I had a custom BC Rich 8 string Mockingbird that was cool for about 15 minutes, then became impractical to play songs for me. I am strictly a 4 string guy. My XL-9 and XL-24 both are the 4 string versions of their 8 string counterparts.
