Would these early electronics also be the ones included with the super hot, non-beveled pickups, or did those with the hot pickups use yet another set of electronics?

I don't know about all of them, but mine, s/n 072, has beveled 3 wire pickups. The '85 preamp is hotter than the later ones according to Mike Haney. Without looking up the emails it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 35db vs 25db.

You're welcome. The 9v board also has a triple stack, but it's the Tone set instead of the Vol/Pan set...

I haven't seen any other '85s but John Taylor's black one from Jan '85 had non-beveled pickups. You'll have to squint pretty hard but this is that bass...

What the?! Now, I vaguely recall that you could get a Kubicki Factor. So, it's not an Ex-Factor, and neither a Key Factor because those have headstock tuning keys. Great question. No idea if those were 32" of 34". That one is fretless too.

Here's another rare Ex-Factor. Looks to be a natural-finish alder body/maple neck & fb. Stunning! I first saw this as a small pic on The Kubicki Factor fb page, but recently found this same pic when I Googled "Kubicki Ex-Factor - images". Apparently part of a vid.

Yes, I wrote that with such authority! I must have researched it but (hah!) I can't recall where I gleaned that information. Until proven otherwise - I'll stand behind my 7yr old words! It seems logical though, the Ex-Factor was medium scale to facilitate the extra frets above the nut, resulting in the roughly 36.5" open D-string.

Maybe in large quantities - I've had a number of my custom 34" scale necks made w/ebony fb's. But that all maple Ex-Factor neck...

Let's have some fun. If an Ex-Factor at 32" scale makes a 36.5" D string, then what would the D string scale length be if the Ex-Factor was a 34" scale? 'Cause that's how long your ebony plank would need to be!
