L-2000/ L-2500 Examples??

Hi. I've heard a bunch of examples of the L-2000/ 2500 recorded by itself but none of it being played in a mix. Does anyone have any tracks in which you've used one? Or can you link or share something I can go look up? I'm considering an L-2000 or an SB-2. I know the L-2000 is versatile (something I do want) but I'm just really wondering how well the L-2000 can do old school rock.

Here're two little bits of my L2500 fretless where I was experimenting with that exact thing, how it sounds in a mix.

I did these in Logic on my mac. The guitar on both me (except the little funk rhythm in the "bop" example) which is also a G&L, my legacy special which I hope to learn how to play one day.

The L2500 is direct into my computer with the bridge PU only in series mode.

Not really music, just experiments in how it sounds with guitar and drums.

Then I'd sure like to know what you think music is, cause to me those sound really, really good. Very well done. And that's just what I was looking for. If I can make an L-2000 sound like that I'd be a happy fella!

Did you plug into a DI or interface ahead of your computer?

Well I'll admit my L2000 has a woolier, lower-midbassy sound to it than my 2500. But it's also an older late 90's model with the 3 bolt bi-cut neck.

I dont know if the newer L2000's sound like my L2500 (which is a year old maybe) or like my L2000. So it may mix a little different.

I think my 2500 sits in a mix better because of its sharper sound. I don't have to have it nearly as loud...

Oh I didn't answer this question. Actually, not a DI, but this was all running through my boss loop station (bypassed of course) which works pretty well as a buffer.

Direct into the computer input without at least a buffer or preamp is pretty yucky sound-wise. The onboard preamp works sorta, but gives a really harsh sound....

L-2000 basses are used (live, at least) by Dillinger Escape Plan and Silverchair (he had a black one from the first album onwards, and a silver sparkle one a bit later, but now plays Fender). Anybody's guess what gets used in the studio though.

Not a recording, but anecdotally, the L2K was the only bass my drummer could hear as well as my Thumb in the rehearsal studio.

Here's three songs I recorded with my G&L L2000 in a blues band that I was in last year.

It should give you a rough idea of how it sounds in a mix. Each track uses a different pickup selection. Track 1 is the neck pickup, track 2 both pickups and track 3 the bridge pickup.

Thanks guys. The recording was done with both a DI into the desk and through an Ampeg Classic and 8x10. When we got to the studio, the engineer (young guy about 20) had the Ampeg set up with a microphone in front and then an upended sofa behind the microphone. When I saw it I thought "***? Does he know what he's doing?" Obviously he did.
