Labellas customs at the bend of bridge out flatwound cracked but stays in tune sound great but is it ok that just bend area of stings crack?

IME it may be ok or it may break there. I've broken more than one DTF that way. Have never tried TB strings because I no longer string through bodies. ...haven't broken a string since, either ;)

True Joijnercape, but at the prices that a new set of La Bellas cost, I have to decide if its worth it to me... I guess I could buy an individual string if one breaks, but it seems that with all the choices out there, maybe I should focus on finding another flat that sounds good to me. The Fenders were ok. Not as nice sounding, but probably pretty close. Or I could get a different bridge...

I had a similar issue with tapewound strings and ended up buying a new bridge. But a decent tech / luthier can just add holes to your existing bridge for the fraction of the cost of a new bridge (this didn't occur to me at the time unfortunately).

Wow, sorry to restart this, but i finnaly got a lead why my usa select precision keeps going out of tune. I have Thomastik strings, and they do fit string thorough. Anyone having issues with tunning because of this? Do i need to string through bridge?

I know the Jamerson set is too large a gauge to safely string through the body, and I know that La Bella recommends that their strings not get strung through the body due to the sharp turning angle that the string makes at the bridge. But I am wondering how many of you out there have thrown caution to the wind and strung them through the body anyway, and what your result was.

I have one P-bass, a '97 MIA, and I love it. It has only one option for strings, and that is through the body. I have tried Fenders on it with no problems, and a set of La Bella standard gauge flats for a little while with no problem.

So please chime in with your La Bella sting through the body experience. Thanks!
