La bella flats G string sitar like rattle

Picked up a new CS precision and wanted to put my usual flats on which are the la Bella deep talking flats 45-105

Anyway it's the second time now with 2 different sets and 2 different basses that the G string always has a sitar like noise when fretted. Same area like 10-16th fret.

On my other pbass I bought a new set and it fixed that one. Now I bought a new set for my new bass and after a few weeks the sitar noise is now on this one also. Just ordered another set but this is getting really expensive.

Is this a common issue with these strings or am I just unlucky at buying strings?

Worst sitar sound I've heard was on a brand new bass. Looked more closely and one of the rear bridge hold-down screws (one of only four total screws, one at each corner of the bridge if I remember right) was broken.

A different sitar sound can be caused by spinning the string onto the post, which twists it.

I've had this many times with different La Bella sets, always on the D or G. I've found that the material/sound of their flats brings out the buzz that's already there, more than some other brands, especially when new.. but yes there is some type of occasional flaw in them that makes it super noticeable. Email them from their website and they'll usually send you a replacement.

I buy my strings from Sweetwater just because the basic shipping is really fast and the strings seem to always be on sale.

Funny because the sitar noise sometimes isn't there or I can pluck the string or fret really lightly and it's gone. However last nights jam I was just going to rip the strings right off the bass. No matter what I did it wouldn't go away.

Labella will take care of you. Last time this happened to me I took photos of it and attached them in the email. Labella wanted to examine the bad string and they sent me about a half dozen extra G's, as well as some other gauges to experiment with. It's a bummer when it happens and is a known issue, but Labella is a great company and I like their strings enough to stay with them despite the occasional hiccup.

I am working with D'Addario in getting a replacement Chromes E string as I have tried all the tricks to get rid of the chorus/phase sound ( yes, every trick I found on TB as well as my own ). Only with the open E and it gets less noticeable as I fret down past the first fret ( F ) and is gone by ( F# ).
