I hated these things from the moment I put them on and I finally got a set of the standard La Bella strings Muuuuuuuuuccccccccccch better, I am a happy camper now. I don't know what I am going to do with the Golds, probably tie up a Rump Roast.

Thanks for your feedback! We actually sell quite a lot of these so they do appeal to certain players. If you’d like to exchange them for another set, feel free to email [email protected] and we can send you something else.
Curiosity got the better of me, so I finally bought a set of the new La Bella Golden Alloy (760FGS), and with much anticipation (I was all aquiver with excitement) installed them on my Fender Precision. These are the same gauge as the strings I removed...a set of La Bella DTB (760FS).
These new strings turned my highest output bass into my lowest output bass.
They also caused a fair amount of excess relief which I had to dial out, indicating a much higher tension required to achieve appropriate pitch.
They sound like my old set of Chromes .105-.050. Same sort of midrange, but no where near the output.
Very rough to the touch. They were scrupulously cleaned (wiped down) before installation as I do with all new strings. They are not nearly as smooth as the removed 760FS set. Very sticky. Nose grease helps, but is a poor substitute for a properly polished finish.
The package says that the (...",strings may appear dull over time.")
They look pretty on my blonde Fender 50's Classic Precision.
I'll give them a month or so, but generally, they aren't suitable to my requirements.
They may work just fine for other folks.
