LA Woman??

Pretty sure it was A P, played by Jerry Scheff.

Could be, but would have been in the studio. The Doors did not have a bass "guitar" player as such. The bass part was handled by the keyboardist. I forget the brand, but the keyboard was one of those that had the black bass keys, and every time that I saw them, there was not a bass guitar player. Of course, I could be wrong. I'm no expert on The Doors, but every time that I've have seen them perform, that was the case.

they used a bassist in the studio at times. Carol Kaye was one . Jerry Scheff was on LA woman i do believe

Other than part of the first album, the studio stuff was nearly 100% electric bass. Never heard of Carol Kaye getting any creds. Somehow I doubt it. She did lots of Wrecking Crew stuff, but The Doors did all their own parts in the studio. VERY few others were in there. Can't imagine Morrison or the Doors actually tracking with Carol in the same room. Doug Lubahn, Ray Neapolitan and Scheff did most of the work.

Jerry Scheff Played for the Bass tracks on L.A. Woman.
He is credited in the album...
I want to say that he played a Pre CBS P bass on the track, it that helps.
But it was definatly Jerry Scheff.
I have a picture of it somewhere..... maybe its in the album artwork?
Jerry Scheff, talking with the band...
I'll look for it.
I also want to think that he played through a Bassman...
Thanks.

Right,
John Densmore said on one of those VH1 shows, a topic the of using the bassists in the studio, they "tried out a girl on bass but it didn't work out". Yup he didn't mention her name, just 'girl'.

I too have always heard Scheff was to be the permanent bassist after recording LA Woman.
If anyone remembers, I think Doug L was a TB member and posted a few times.
