Labella Low Tension Flats through body?

I have, on a Fender MIJ 51 P "telebass". No problems for me, although LaBella say themselves that you shouldn't string their normal flatwounds thru-body. They have their own line of flats meant for stringing thru-body, which are called "TB" at the end of the normal product code, like "DTB 760FS-TB".

Check them out at bassstringsonline.com, for instance, I have bought from there for my 51 P. The 760FX-TB or 760FL-TB would be pretty similar to the low tension flats, but with LaBella's "ok" that you can string them thru-body.

I'm curious if anyone ever got a definitive answer if the low tension flats can be used on a through body? I'd love to use these on my American standard.

The American Professional Jazz I just got arrived with La Bella Low Tension Flats strung through the body and there does not appear to be any problems. I ordered another pair to keep around just in case, will let you know if things change.

Since my post, I’ve used a set in my American Standard P and they sound and feel great!

I just tried them today on my '51 Custom Shop Relic. I found that A-D-G sounded great but E sounded a bit dull; I'm not sure if a bridge adjustment will make much difference. I put them on because the stock 9050's that it came with were starting to feel like bridge cables.

I talked to Labella on Thursday, trying to find a 760FX-TB set (through the body). They told me that the regular 760FX would work because they are thin strings core wire is small. The Flexible Flats will string through the body with no problem, I was told. I think for any other Laballa flats, you'd want the TB set if you string through the body.

I think LaBella made a change to the 760FX set. I just put a set on last week. Two significant changes from the last set I got;
They now have dark green silk
More importantly, they feel a lot more flexible than before.

Still like them a lot though, they are now my favorite flat.

I just got a new set and mine are green as well.
The set on my 65P bass, I put on in the early 80's, are orange.
I don't think there is any rhyme or reason for the silk colors at Labella.
760FX has always been my favore flat too, I prefer these over their low tension set w/ purple silk.
I've tried Chromes, DR, and Thomastik and I always go back to Labella.
I just put a set on my Hofner Club and they are awesome on that bass too.

This is good information. Thanks for the thread. I just purchased a
American Professional Jazz and am wanting to go through body. I will get some of the LTFs to put on it since LaBella says they will work. Can’t wait to hear how they sound.

I have a set of the labella low tenison flats on a fender 2008 p bass that are strung through the back of the bass. I think that adds a little more tension to the feel...
And it also crease the strings a little so if want to try them on a different bass that might weaken the string some...,
