Labella Tapewound vs Labella Flatwound tension

Does anyone have any direct experience with these two sets of strings. I currently have the Labella black tape wound 750N's on a fretless basa. I love the tension and the smoothness of the strings. What i don't like is the strings feel a little slow to me when gliding like the plastic is causing excessive drag at times.

Would like to try the plain flat wounds but was wondering if the tension is equivalent or is it more or less. Hard to believe it would be less. Don't want too much tension like CHROMES have in comparison.

I like the Chromes on one bass I own but for this particular fretless I want to have comparable tension to the black tape wound Labella's.

Anyone have any info on that they could share? Would be looking at the 760FS as it seems to be the most comparable as far as string gauges to the current set i'm using.

760fl Vs copper white are night and day on both tension and stiffness.

Ltf4a are in between.

If you prefer mwah lot, chrome present better than Labella. EB Cobalt give you more metallic mwah along with lower thesion than ECB 81.

I’ve used Labella’s light gauge classic black, white, and copper white tapewounds on several basses over the years.
I also use Labella Low Tension Flat sets on a few different basses. I think they are probably closer in tension/feel
to their tapewounds than their regular flatwounds.

I would definitely recommend the Low Tension Flats, regular LaBella flats have a lot of tension.
Just out of curiosity, how long have you had the tapes on the bass? I know for the blacks they do seem to have a bit of a coating at first, but it wears off over time. I have a set of whites on another bass and those are actually smoother. So might be worth checking out. The white tapes are a little brighter sounding though, i went with the black on my fretless as i felt the white might be too much mwah.

I have had the tapes on the bass for over a year but haven't played that bass out very much. Decided to take it out and play it exclusively for our gig the other night and was surprised how comfortable I ended up being with it. We play a variety of music so fretless can be an issue. But it sounded good and will take it out the next gig as well. That all being said other than playing at home those strings haven't seen a lot of action. Guesstimate 20hrs total on them??
