Morning T'bers! I just wanted to make a post about Lace Man O War MM4 pickup, as before purchasing I could barely find any information. I want to make this post to help those in the future to avoid this issue.
For reference, I'm in the UK, the pickup cost total £159 (£111+tax+Ups shipping) and took just over 3 weeks to arrive. This pickup is in my '23 Stingray special 4H.
This pickup has a voicing similar to the Modulus FB4/FU4 sound, so if you are looking for the lane poor pickup tone or something like Flea/Ue Chang's tone then this will get you close. (and for a lot cheaper) For me it sounds like a stingray but with a 'both pickups full' jazz bass growl to it, and is definitely within eq range of getting the lane poor tone.
I love the stingray tone, but for me the E string on mine was too beefy and lacked the articualtion of the other strings. The Lace pickup scoops in the right place to give the E string a nice growl I love.
I have it wired in parallel, it comes wired in series but has the 5 wires for any combination. Also mine may have been wired/built wrong? According to the diagram I would need the white and orange wires to go to hot and the striped pair to go to ground, but for mine to work I wired the coloured pairs together. Not sure what happened here but if you have this issue use a live jack to see which pair of wires make the coil work and go from there. Here's the diagram let me know if I understood it wrong:

I've made a breif sound demo compared to the original pickup. (I'll post a reply with a link tomorrow, im at work today) I think the og pickup is great and I don't see a reason to replace it with another stingray type pickup, but the lace is voiced differently and its worth considering. If you are a person after Ue Chang or flea's live sound, IMO forget the modulus and lane poor pickup, save the money get a sterling ray and this pickup, it's waaaay cheaper.
This pickup will stay in my bass, I'm liking it! Only done 1 gig with it but it sounded great and cut through perfectly in the context of a loud rock band (but that's in the blood of the stingray I guess
