So I was gifted one of these and it's a nice bass as far as the comfort and playability but the pickup is really dull and flat sounding. Has anyone swapped the pickup on this bass and the results? I know the position of the pickup matters but I've heard many MM style basses sound real beefy and punchy unlike the flat sound of this one even though it's loud.

Laguna LB224 pickup swap

I have one of these and the pickup sounds fine to me. I swapped out the wiring harness with a pre-made P-Bass harness that I got on Ebay. I have to back off on the tone knob a bit but it sounds good. Maybe a Seymore Duncan pickup would be more to your liking. I payed 75 bucks for the bass and have several higher end basses so I was content to just put some decent pots in the bass.
