White pearl, no contest, not even close.

No surprise that the tort faction has had their say in the poll, though . . . I love tort on basses that have complementary finishes--but that blue and tort don't look good together at ALL.

Wow. Thanks for all the great feedback guys.

I was just killing time in front of my computer during my lunch break and thought I might get 2 or 3 replies. This is great.

I must say I went into this with Tort as a strong favorite (having been inspired by the 60's reissue LPB/tort jazz basses that look like the one HaroldBishop posted above. But the white pearloid majority is pretty pursuasive!

I'm pretty stoked to get this bass on Monday and once I confirm that it is a keeper I am going to have a tough pickguard choice ahead of me.

Jeannie's Pickguards did this for an old LPB Jazz bass I used to own. I no longer own the bass, it's one of the few I regret selling.

I had a LPB Glaub w/ tort guard. Thought I would like it because I've seen old, aged Fenders with it, but couldn't stand it in person and swapped back to mint. That Lakland LPB finish is just too sharp.

At first glance the cream pearl looks nice, but now I'm sold on white pearl. Makes that blue just pop.

My LPB P has a tortoise pickguardian guard, but I voted Cream Pearl. That looks real nice too.

Tort on LPB looks hideous, not complimentary color tones at all. It looks like it's trying for an old vintage vibe, but that combination just doesn't work on any level. PW however is the perfect match, and looks very sharp. I'd like to see an example of abalone also, might look good!

Although I am a tort. guy (in my case actually burled redwood veneer which looks a psychadelic version of tort.), the L.P.B. seems to look best with white or in your case white pearl. I have a '65 jazz bass under construction which I will be painting L.P.B. with matching headstock and your photo's seem to confirm the white going best with it. But, if I went with burgundy mist and tort......hmmm.
