Lake street Dive.

I liked them for a few years and didnt know where they were from or anything, simply had subscribed on Youtube. And then…Akie was at my friend’s wedding. Wife and I were like…uh…we know you! Friend is a musician and had many friends including me play at the reception. So I got to share a stage with him briefly. He seemed like a great guy.

His joining the band really made the band shine in my opinion. The first albums were solid but their latest is a banger from start to finish.

Lake Street Dive is one of those bands that deserves to be at the top of the billboard charts. Rachel Price could be a pop superstar if she went that route; phenomenal singer. Bridget Kearney is a seriously underrated bass player. She may not be the flashiest, fastest fills, or best soloist, BUT... she's constantly singing melody and harmony, her parts contribute to the song in a way that they wouldn't be the same without her, and all on an up-right to boot. It's a short list of bassists who can do those three things better (hint: Esperanza Spalding).

Their most recent album is phenomenal. Strongly recommend.

Lake Street Dive also did the theme song for "Somebody Feed Phil" on Netflix. Phil Rosenthal travels the world eating out. He was the exec producer of Everybody Loves Raymond, did work with Curb Your Enthusiasm, various movies, etc.
