Lakland help, string height!!

hello fellow Lakland Owners and TB'ers, i just recieved my 55-02 and its SWEET!!!! i have a quick question it might sound a bit dumb but i want to lower the strings closer to the fretboard, should i loosen the truss rod or bring down the saddles??
While adjusting the rod might lower the strings a bit, that is not the reason why you would ever adjust the rod. You adjust the rod to set the amount of relief you want, and then adjust the saddles to get the string height where you want it.

Here's Carl Pedigo, the Lakland master himself, discussing how to setup a Lakland bass.
