the -01's are what have the MK1's and lots of people mod them with the nordie dual coils, big singles or fat stacks...or possibly another bartolini would work for you too. there are lots of options out there, but i see nordies most frequently.

on the -02's, there are nordstrand options or other options, to include the Lakland/Hanson electronics, which are made in-house at lakland.

if you're not into the B string on a 5 string, maybe you could string it high? EADGC

nordies fit into the -01 without routing, and they also sound great, somewhere in the F***** field but in the high end. Woudn't be a direct replacement for the -02. But, there's really no need for this, because the MME/J config is something completely diferent. You could really try LaklandHanson LH3* or Delano or them BassLines, according to what your needs are.

also, I feel the 4 and the 5 model necks are way too different and, to me, the 4- neck is more comfortable

*I like Bartolinis alot in the 94 series but, in my current bass, I should say that after changing the pups (not the preamp) for the LH-3, my bass sounds closer to what I need

Nordstrand also makes MM/J pups to fit the -02's and -94s. Of course, the pups i mentioned for the -01's won't fit, but there are others to include the brands you mentioned, as well.

OK, I got one last 3 way trade in before I leave town at noon today to go get one of my sons married off. New Glaub neck coming for the fretless so I can trade it for John's 44-02. I feel much better now. BTW, new quote from Fergus in my top banner... so true, so true!!
I'll be back on the 17th, so you will probably be at least on #23 or #24 by then, LOL.
Later!!

lol another neck that's fretted? why didn't you just keep it! :bassist:

Funny that this comes up...I'm actually thinking...maybe I should swap out the neck on my silver JOCS for a fretless neck. Anyone have a fretless US Lakland JO, that would want to go fretted? It would have to be in killer shape since this neck is pretty much new.

you should have yours converted.put a nice shiny epoxy coat on it, that would be sweet.

i havent seen to many fretless JO's out there.
