I'll check out Nino's work. I was going to go for a CallowHill MDM5, but the latest price hike put it out of reach. So, I'm either going to save for the J5 or go to a different builer. I wish Lakland did a 34" fiver. Not that the extra inch makes things too difficult, but I'm just very accustomed to the 34" scale.

thats right, i forgot about the b & b.

34"fiver hmmm??

IMOthe nicest 34"fiver ive played was a valenti with nord big singles, and a aguilar pre with passive tone(quite affordable too)

Speaking of which, are you guys still going to the International GTG? I already paid, July 14th's the deadline to get your money in. I'm coming over from Chicago, so be there!

I've got a question for you Lakie guys. I've played a 55-02 at my shop a few times and I have to say it is a very nice bass. I'd probably pick it up, but I dont really need or want a 5er, and Barts don't really do it for me. Has anyone replaced their pickups with Nordstrands or something similar? Also are there any drop-in replacements for the MK1's?

the -01's are what have the MK1's and lots of people mod them with the nordie dual coils, big singles or fat stacks...or possibly another bartolini would work for you too. there are lots of options out there, but i see nordies most frequently.

on the -02's, there are nordstrand options or other options, to include the Lakland/Hanson electronics, which are made in-house at lakland.

if you're not into the B string on a 5 string, maybe you could string it high? EADGC

Hahah I guess I worded my questions poorly. I had looked at 44-01's, knowing I dont like barts that much, but it seems that the Nords are a bit smaller than the MK1's, and the space around the pickup would drive my OCD off the wall.

I considered the high C thing a little while ago, but I decided if I were to get a five, I'd rather have the low B, but it just wouldn't see enough use.

The one I played is an 02. I'm just po' and the 01's are less expensive :p. Maybe I should see if I can try an 02 with the new pickups, do the skyline's come with the LH3?

they have since mid or late 06, i believe. i bought, then sold a 55-02 with barts that was from 06, however i had a 55-94 from 2006 that had the laklands and not the barts. it could have been changed at lakland, though. they offer a swap for the -02's and -94's if you want the new stuff put in place of the barts.
