Honestly, that's the one thing I'm not crazy about with my 44-02. It just doesn't thump in my chest like my old p-bass does. But by the same token, I love it because it's a much "tighter" and smoother sounding bass.
Good luck! That Decade, by the way, is one of the lightest fivers I've ever picked up.

Here's my tribute to Lakland DJ5, it's THE bass for me and I hope so badly Lakland continues the model under whatever name. I wanna have these in every color!

I kind of feel the same way. My 44-02 (with Barts) doesn't really sound "punchy". I would call it more.. "Buttery".
Yeah, mine has the barts as well. Maybe that's what it is... But the thing is, I don't want to give up the buttery sound either. I just need to get some more basses obviously
I felt my 55-01 was like that. Even after upgrading the preamp.
Nice tone and lovely bass but it was quite a revelation when i went back to playing my HW1 Jazz.
The 44-02 looks and feels so nice, I feel like I should play it all the time. On the other hand, it won't do what my (somewhat modded) Zodiac BXP or work-in-progress Franken-Squier P-bass can. 
I keep thinking I might want a maple-fretboard, Lakland electronic equipped 44-02 or an Osborn.

LH-3 even more so.
Pbasses are much more thumpy in general than a jazz style or mm style bass
Both Decade 5'ers are gone and none for me.Leo emailed me earlier and said they've been sold.
