O.K , maybe I,ll try a bit more relief and see how it shapes up. I normally do my own setups because experience has taught me thats the only way to get it just how I want it , and I'm a picky guy! I really hope I can sort it out because the bass is otherwise superb in every way, even better than I had hoped for before I bought it. Just thinking about it though, won't more relief take the neck further from the string below the twelth fret , with a bottomed-out saddle then unable to compensate for this, whilst leaving the problematic area above this point unaffected by the trussrod . Please pardon my ignorance if I am missing something here, I could easily be wrong.

Thanks Ian . I love your LH3 Video on Youtube, a major factor in me getting my Lakland. .The bass is brand new , and I use medium gauge roundwound strings ( 40 -100 ) with around a third of a millimeter of relief when holding the string down at the first and 13th fret . The action is low- one and a half millimeters at the twelth fret on the G to two and a quarter millemeters on the E at the twelth fret. In fact, the E string saddle is as low as it will go. Maybe it is just different to what I am used to , or I am getting weak in my old age.
sounds like you may need to shim the neck, its a very minor fix.

try a cheap business card first, a little bit goes a huge way when shimming.

i usually would shape the business card to the heal of the neck and cut it just under the closest screw hole on the neck, should be about a quarter to half an inch.

hope that helps!

Wow, absolutely stellar! You've made some great choices, man. Those two Decades alone can cover so much tasty sonic territory--alder with single-coil Chis and mahogany with Dark Stars, excellent. Bravo!

anyone with a hollowbody know the exact dimensions or a nice case that fits one? i recently purchased a skyline hollowbody (dont have it in my hands yet) and i dont like the available case. i was wanting something nicer, like the one the usa's used to come with.

Which dimensions are you looking for? Where do you want me to measure?
