LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #44

Graham Maby using a JO backing up Joe Jackson. Not exactly a new clip or a blazing display of virtuosity, but Maby's body of work with Joe Jackson and other artists is superb.

It's here!
It's unboxed and acclamating: SoCal is a way different humidity than here.

It's light for a 5'er at zactly 8.5lbs.
It plays out decently, though I've done nothing other than tweak the trussrod.

It's for sure of the "Jazz Bass" tone family, which is good for me.

The neck pickup seems plenty hefty, and the bridge pickup has good bark. I'd hoped for a little more top end zing, but it's alright that way.
The pup heights are higher than I generally run them, but it seems well shielded so hitting the covers with strings doesn't make any foul noises. The covered poles allows this as well.
I'll probably lower the neck pickup a bit...hmmmm....

The headstock seems thicker than the Skylines I've had, which ought to be good for several reasons: strength, tone...

Pretty good initial feeling from this one!

yeah man.. that's the beez kneez

a wife who's not only supportive but also an enabler :p

She's bought me about three basses since we've been married and we've only been married for three years.

1. Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 5 natural/rosewood as a
wedding present which I returned for a Lakland Skyline 55-01
natural/rosewood.

2. Lakland Skyline 55-01 natural/lined fretless as a
first anniversary present which I sold to purchase
my EBMM Bongo 5 single H.

3. EBMM Bongo 5 HH as a second anniversary present.

4. Carvin B5 (#2) jointly purchased by my wife and parents for
Christmas '09.

Since I'm a full-time bass player, there is justification for equipment purchases and support from my family.
