So what's the tension like on the Fender flats? I like the feel of Lakland and GHS flats, but chromes are a little to stiff in my opinion.

Fender flats are kinda high in tension. I'd send you mine (not using em) but they're cut for a musicman. You can get em for like $19 I think. They are prolly a little (slightly noticeable) higher in tension than the GHS.

Brief gig report:
The 55CS was immediately noticed by the band I played with last night, even while I was just tuning up the the M6>Henry 8x8 rig
"What is that thing, it sounds great!"

Nice hefty lows, but I'd like a little more mid push and a little more top end presence. I think fresh strings, and more specifically fresh nickles will probably get me there. I'm not a stainless rounds guy, and the lakland ss on there seem to not be so fresh either....

It plays out nicely. Sounds pretty good, so next step is fresh strings to see where that takes me.

So far, we've bonded more readily than the MTD535 I had recently (completely an "art bass" in terms of craft, but, complete fail, for me, sonically) and Sadowsky RV5-PJ (nice bass, just not my thing sonically either).

She's a Low Strings Competition winner, comfortly sits in the mix and easily cuts through. Very powerful, sounds somewhat like an active bass and produces a lot more volume than a 55-94 in the passive mode. She has a perfect neck and feel so we have established bonds easily. I would like more highs and high mids, however. Have been thinking to get a LH3 stomp box, try out Laklands in the ChiSonic casings. Will try nickels as well and see what we gets.

John told me that the checks will get cashed as soon as they place the order.

what has to happen first is that Korea needs to send back the prototyes for approval. as soon as the prototype is approved, then an order is placed and the checks will get cashed by Lakland.

it may be a month or so before the prototype gets back to Chicago..although John told me he would do what he can to speed this up....

sorry for the headache....the LOG bass will be a great cure when it gets here!

on another note, the 55-01 is probably the best Lakland bass for modding: least expensive, with pups and curcuit that encourages some to desire more, also wide pickup holes

I don't like it. The curve of the pickguard swings too close to the knobs, and *way* too close to the bridge. Looks claustrophobic.
