Markus, does Lakland's excellent shielding job mitigate the hum compared to other bass brands w single coils?

Yes...I'd say as good as it's going to get. You'll never have a silent bass with single coils being favored....and hot single coils...fugetaboutit!

I believe that depends on the model. On my bass (US model, passive), they chose to do it old-school (no foil), so the CS gave lots of noise and hum. Adding copper foil cage helped A LOT. I would recommend copper foil for CS singles, yes.

they are loud, aggressive, a fat cross between a P and a J. I would say yes, hot.

Picked up a Skyline 44-64 Custom used this week. Couldn't be happier with how it feels and sounds. First gig with it will be latenight tonight!
