I know for a cold hard fact, when I pick up the DPLEII and then pick up the US Decade or US DJ, there is a noticeable difference in the weight.
The US Decade and DJ are Very light well balanced basses.
It is not like the DPLEII is overly heavy or anything.
Just more around the size & weight of a MM Stingray.

Maybe a US Glaub is similar in weight to the DPLEII.
Never held one of those so ???
Maybe I am comparing apples and oranges due to the different model body sizes ,etc...???

My US Glaub is a little over 8 pounds. My Korean Skyline Glaub is about 8.5 pounds (so very close to the US weight). My Indo Skyline Decade is probably closer to 10 punds. Maybe around 9.5.

It has been said that the Indo Skylines are lighter than the Koreans but that has not been the case with the ones that I have handled. I would say that most Indo's I have played have been on the heavy side of the scale.

Most US Laklands are pretty light.

I saw this one in the for sale forum. It was noted that black is an in demand US Lakland color. Does anyone know if that is true and if it is, why?

Not sure mate. I like the combo, but not sure if it is in demand / hard to come by. On a different note, anyone know where I can get a b/w/b pick guard for a 2011 Bob Glaub?

Uh, I think you just agreed with me about them selecting lighter wood for the US models.

I had a rough night last night, be kind ...LOL
I think after I did the comparison I realized the DPLEII is a larger Glaub style body.
So it is not accurate to compare to a DJ or Decade which are smaller bodies.

This is the company that makes the US pickguards. You can get any color you need there.

I haven't weighed my two US Glaubs. But I've compared them to other basses that have been weighed, and I strongly believe they're both around 8.5 lbs.

I have to guess the DPLEII is heavier than 8.5.
maybe 9.5 or so? Feels about the weight of a Stingray.
But I run from bathroom scales, so we have none in the house

It is a passive model. I get the neck back on Wed. Pictures will be posted that night.
