Who here plays only 5er's? I've been playing my 55-01 and am really starting to favor the active 5 over the 4. I'm considering selling both of my 44-02's for a single 55-02.

Only fivers since my first 55-94 in late 90's

Currently---

Lakland 55-94
Pedulla Pentabuzz
MTD-535/24

Not sure that I'll go back to a 4-string

I jumped from 4s to 6ers in '92 (started playing bass in '89), went to a 55-94 in '07 because 6 strings didn't suit the hard rock originals band I was in. Now that I'm in a covers-only band, I'm gigging 4s and tuning down to D occasionally. I favor ease and simplicity now, so I'll grab a 4 as much as possible. I can get into performing more if I don't have extra strings to keep muted. I say keep a 4 in your stable.

There is no way that I'm getting rid of my 44-60 and 44-64. Those models are the basis of the bass.:D. I will always have a p and j of some kind. I want to have all of my tonal bases cover, which I do, but thinking of selling the 44-02's for a 55-02 or maybe even a 54-94. Not sure what to do yet.

Having gone from an Indo 02 to a US 94 - I wouldn't hesitate, but YMMV :)

I've posted other pics of my Lak on these threads before, but I don't think I ever posted this one here:

I just picked up a 44-64...beauty...8.5 lbs (max) 1.75" nut (just like I like it) and want to put a D tuner on it.

So the new D tuner arrives today and it turns out the ferrule for the D tuner won't fit into the headstock hole. Wrote to Lakland about it, and all they could tell me was that I have the correct parts but, many times they have to ream out the headstock hole a little to fit the ferrule.

Doesn't sound like a big deal except that I can't do it myself (tools), and if I take it to a luthier they will charge me an arm and a leg (because they will want to do a "set up" etc)

Sux cuz I do luv this darn thing
