Lakland Owners Group #69

There she is! Absolutely STUNNING! Never tire of seeing that one! With that one sitting out would be hard to resist not picking it up and playing it. Very unique bass. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Max! She also sounds great!

Remember what she looked like when I first got her?

I'm fairly certain they were single coil due to the low output

My Chisonics are really early! I have the absolute first 5 string 5JS (as they were called at the time)....I know my Chisonics were custom wound...so maybe that has something to do with the output.

My gateway basses were the following:

1) Ordered the DJ4 (because I loved the way it looked)
2) Convinced Dan to do a run of Amber 55-02 basses (ordered the first one of course - this was less than a week from ordering the DJ)
3) Bought a used Skyline BG from a guy in Madison while waiting...such a great bass (2002?) ! Took it to Carl for a set up and he thought it was a US Lakie.

Regarding the Amber 55-02s we had a subgroup at the time called the Amber Group...we used to know where (almost) all of them were....for the old timers remember Amber North, Amber East, Amber West (mine was Amber midwest).
