Have a few questions out on that one. May bite, but really hoping for a USA version or possibly a non-burst Skyline.
Well, DHL surprised me yesterday. Even though the website still indicated it was waiting for the next delivery cycle, my black bridge/ferrules showed up yesterday afternoon. I'm still waiting on one part; the aforementioned (a lot) string bar for the headstock. That should be here today.
First off, my very first Lakland; 2015 55-02 Deluxe purchased back in early 2018.

Started by pulling off the old bridge. Well, technically, I started by watching a couple videos on how to safely remove string ferrules. THEN I took the strings off and removed the bridge. Two things struck me immediately:
1. Blech!

-and- 2. You can tell the difference in quality with the Skylines judging by the string-thru holes. Looks like they missed on the first try...

I used a long handle size 3 allen wrench to catch the lip of the ferrules through these holes and gently tapped them out. Then I used the wooden handle from a small foam brush (foam removed) to tap the black ones back in. The rounded end of the small handle fit perfectly inside the ferrule distributing the force evenly.

That was way easier than I thought it would be. Thankfully. I then put the bridge on. I attempted to set the saddles for height and intonation off my old bridge before putting it on to save a little time down the road. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself.

Then, to bring this back on topic, I removed the old chrome and installed black Dunlop strap locks.

Next up I removed and installed a set of black Hipshot 1/2" clover tuners.

Having done this a number of times, this was simply drop-in and tighten complex. (Note the slight indentations in the fretboard behind the nut for the B and E strings. I may need to file those down to make some grooves.)

And like I said, I'm waiting on a 48mm half-round string bar that should be here today. If for some reason it doesn't align, I'll simply paint the old one black. I also still need to get a new black output jack but I'm saving that for another time.
Pre-setting the bridge to mirror the old one really helped with setup after the fact. I did a quick clean and oil of the fretboard, installed a set of medium Lakland steelies, and made some minor intonation tweaks and height adjustments and she's set to go.

So I ordered some pots for a project. I grabbed the same set of concentric pots used by Lākland for their 44-60s. I was going to use them for a parts build I have, but I had another idea. The pots they use are Allparts CTS 250k/500k audio taper pots. I bought a couple Allparts CTS 250k linear pots. I’m going to disassemble the concentric pots and replace the plate on the 250k audio taper with the 250k linear taper plate and try them out in my 44-60. I watched a couple videos on CTS disassembly and it looks pretty easy. I don’t feel bad messing with the electronics on my 44-60 since I’ve had the pickups out a few times already to deal with the noisy poles. I got the idea from Ian Allison talking about his Lull IMA4 on the SBL podcast. He ended up going to 1 meg liner pots for the humbuckers in the IMA4 and demoed how the linear pots blend better. I hope to have this project completed by the beginning of the year. It depends on how much free time my day job will allow.
Sweetest carved body HB bass ever with those soft edge curves. I've had 5 although #5 was also my first that I found years later, got back and still have. Inca silver Korean with Barts. Had one Chisonic and two Hammon Darkstars but there's many more tones with the Bart humbuckers. I find the bursts boring and what you see most often. Someone's tried to pry loose it's fretless mate from me (Korean Warwick full-scale) for some time. Both basses are probably the closest you'll get to their home country's version. Of course a US Lakland will have their great quartersawn neck. The first Lakland Korean run had one in Belair Green similar to G&L's color. I'd love to have that one but never saw it resurface (damn Funkycarnivore from the old Dudepit). The one for sale on TB/Reverb appears to be the only un-damaged one currently for sale but obviously needs a case. The seller of the fretless one on Reverb is clueless.

Ha! I suppose, but if your avatar pic is any indication of your collection I wouldn't advise you to string up any of your bases with a rubber washer anymore. Just not worth the risk.So I just need to keep using thin straps and stand very still
How did that one not sell quick at asking price? It's a steal at 850 and has got one of the best wood fronts I've seen. For some reason so many of the Korean Skyline burst HB's have wood matching on the front that looks like a butcher block.

I used it to record quite a few songs on our second album but had moved away from it in favor of the 55-94s but it’s got a really nice thick tone that I’d forgotten about.

I was wondering what others think about the Hutch Hutchinson Short Scale. While I realize they can’t switch over to a Skyline version soon, I can’t
imagine that their “flying off the shelves” as special orders, considering the list price. Just my take of course. Maybe they are. If I could afford one I’d be more likely to pay the additional up charge and buy a 44-64.

It was so so until I painted the string retainer bar. Don’t underestimate the importance of a good bar!
Just keep me in mind if you decide to shift one or know when one becomes available.
Stay patient and the universe will unite you with one, eventually.

It's an end-game instrument. I can't really seek a finer hollowbody bass.
For those with Lakland Hollowbody basses. Are these your main bass? I am really intrigued by them and they are quite stunning, but not really sure if they would be a #1 bass or just something to add to the collection to have something different.
It won't quite do burpy-quacky Jaco tone -- but if a P or a P-J could be your #1 player for your type of music, I'd say yeah there's no reason this guy couldn't be it.
I'm a P-with-flats guy. That's my #1. For 13 years my Casady-with-flats was a very close #1a. Lakland Hobo-with-flats is the new 1a.

It feedbacks, so I couldn't use it with loud bands. But tone wise it covers a lot of ground.
Good thing I don't have 5g's burning a hole in my pocket, Cherryburst is probably my favorite color and this one's a beauty
