Cool 55-OS on the Newsletter today!!

That's cool! I really do like the look of these and based on some of the sound samples I've heard, I think I'd dig the tone. A local music store to me that carries Lakland had one of these when they first came out. I didn't get a chance to check it out before it sold. Haven't seen one since.

I contacted them and asked to be added. I can’t remember if I called or emailed them with the request. That was a long time ago. For me communication with Lakland has always been quick and thorough. Never have had any problems. A pleasure to deal with.

I’ll reach out and see. Do you remember who to talk to? I’ve bugged Steve and Leo in the past.

What did Lakland call their 44/55 basses with ONLY the MM pickup? I’m assuming the MM pup on those basses was in a slightly different location from where they put it in a bass with the MM/J config. For those who own one, what are your thoughts on this bass? How different is it from the typical MM/J config? And more importantly, how more closely does it resemble an EBMM Stingray? I’d like to grab a Ray, but the ergos don’t jive w me. So kinda thinking maybe this could be better option for me

I was just going to post that. That is a sweet looking bass. Nice weight as well. I believe the MM pickups is in the typical MM position so a little more toward the neck than the typical J/MM layout. I saw this demo a while back and it provides a good overview and demo:

Jason, son of Jerry Scheff (who the Lakland bass model is named after, and was Elvis primary bass player during the heyday)

Talented guy!

I have a Scheff that was originally owned by another of Jerry's sons (not Jason!)

I hear rumors that Jerry may have played it.

Would love to have a bass Jason played.
