I need to message him. I know a supplier that takes care of several big names and even little wannabe guys like me. Premium master grade birdseye is available at less than $200 for a fretboard and/or neck blank. His flame and quilt for bodies is insane as well!

Yeah, when I saw them and knew they were big enough for a bass, I had to have them! They didn’t break the bank either. Definitely affordable enough to be used on a US Lākland.

Can't tell you about a Bart preamp I chose to run an East Uni-Pre. However, in my research I found these to be the pairing for that early 55-94 tone.

Lakland Pickups and Electronics
The Lakland 4-94 and Lakland Skyline 44-02 used Bartolini MM42K3 and 9K-S3 Pickups and the NTMB-L Preamp. These models have been replaced by the MM42CBJD3 and 9CBJD-S3 and NTMB+FL Preamp.
The Lakland 55-94 initially used Bartolini MM52K3 and 59K-S3 Pickups and the NTMB-L Preamp up until June 1997. Later 55-94 models and Lakland Skyline 55-02 used DL52K3 and 59K-LN3 with the NTMB-L. These models have been replaced by the DL52CBJD3 and 59CBJD-LN3 and NTMB+FL Preamp.
Lakland Skyline 44-01 and 55-01 models use the Bill Bartolini licensed MK-1 pickups and preamp. These can be upgraded for better tone with the US made MK4CBC-B/T set for the 44-01 or the MK5CBC-B/T set for the 55-01. Both can be upgraded to use the NTMB+F preamp
I have the MM42CBJD3 and 9CBJDS3 Marcel mentioned combined with the JohnEast UniPre. I like the combination.
@ptidwell was a big help getting the info I needed on the Bart pups I chose.

Max’s 44-02 ended up with between .005” & .006” of relief (US Lāklands leave Chicago with .008”) and the G saddle was bottomed out w/ the E saddle almost all the way down as well. We’re going to add a super thin shim to get back some saddle adjustment, so we can go even lower and get the desired amount of buzz. I can go a smidge lower on the nut slots as well.
This is why it’s good to have your setup guy close by. Everybody has different wants and needs.
