YEP!!! Then it’s going to play like butta! It is close to that now! What does play like “butta” mean to you? I like super low action, so then with right and left combined, get the rasp I want when I dig in. My right hand has gotten lighter last couple of years. JJ noticed this recently.

I’m the same way with my basses. I prefer low action. I got my 44-60 down to 4/64” at the 17th fret on all 4 strings and about the same relief as you, about .005”. It did require a shim to get it that low. I had Lākland shim it first but it was a slightly too thin shim. I removed their shim and installed my own brass shim to achieve my desired action. It’s frustrating trying to find basses that are high quality enough to get the action that low on. Luckily, Lākland basses deliver that quality.

Got my first Lakland bass today! Been on the lookout to pick up my first fretless for a while and also always kind of had an itch to give a lakland bass a try. A 44-02 fretless was on the classifieds here for a decent price and decided to go ahead and give it a whirl. Initial impression is very good. Plays great, and the pickups seem like they can cover a ton of ground. Kind of makes me want to pickup a fretted lakland whenever I'm in the market for another bass.

Alright time to go play some more.

Max’s 44-02 ended up with between .005” & .006” of relief (US Lāklands leave Chicago with .008”) and the G saddle was bottomed out w/ the E saddle almost all the way down as well. We’re going to add a super thin shim to get back some saddle adjustment, so we can go even lower and get the desired amount of buzz. I can go a smidge lower on the nut slots as well.

This is why it’s good to have your setup guy close by. Everybody has different wants and needs.
