Lakland Owners Group #69

I've had both new and old Skylines and they are kind of a crap shoot, some are lighter and some are boat anchors, but I've never found one as light as a US model and that's after requesting a very light piece of ash.

The store owner may have requested lighter ones when he ordered them. But as above he's trying to sell you using FUD, I would not go back to a shop like that, there's plenty of on the level places around.

Five pounds, are you sure? I've never seen a 12 lb Skyline OR a 7 lb one.

No, I'm not sure about the exact weights. According to my bathroom scale, mine is 10.5lbs and the body on the one I played today was so light it had neck dive. The shop also had a Glaub and a DJ 5 string. I didn't play them but I picked them up and they were equally light. I'm not commented on the quality, just the weight.

FUD?

If the tree liked Ben and Jerry's, the wood is heavier. If the tree is Vegan, its lighter.

Every 44-01/02 and 55-01/02 I have played or owned, I would guess, was within about 6-10 ounces of each other in weight. These few ounces can make a dramatic difference when side by side.

Oh, okay. So that's the answer? They moved manufacturing so the wood supply is different? Is one wood better than another?

The 44-02s are still ash. Now if there is a particular difference in the species of ash that is being sourced, you would have to ask Lakland. I'm sure that there is some density difference between species but we need a Forester to answer that because I have no idea how great the difference is. That could be/probably is a picking the fly poop out of the pepper type thing.
