There is one post office in Chicago that handles all incoming and outgoing international packages. It is probably STUCK there!
I had a package from Canada (record cleaning kit) that sat there for weeks (almost 2 months).

That is probably where it is.

still frustrating though.

Any find that Elixir strings are too short, on the B and E even through the bridge? Seems like the shortest wrap, the third one, is about 1/4 inch short of the shut on my 55-14. Normal?

Not sure but….I just put new D’Addario super light nickels on my 55-02 (Sweetwater sent me some free strings when I bought it) that are the standard long gauge. I had the same issue as you. Strung the A-D-G through body but had to run the E and B through the bridge to get the full winding past the nut. Looks like I’ll have to order the super long scale set going forward but I don’t think the super light/super long is a stock set so I might have to see if I can custom build what I need.

My company works in all of the Chicagoland USPS buildings. From the downtown Cardiss Collins, to Bedford Park, Irving Park, Forest Park, Carol Stream, Gary IN, and beyond. They’re all heated. USPS workers wouldn’t be there if there wasn’t heat. You don’t need to worry about it freezing.

Even through the bridge the full winding is not past the nut is what I'm actually saying. Its so short that it'd barely work on a 34 inch scale. I'm fine string through the bridge but its too short for even that.

As a former owner of a PJ and a Joe Osborn, both from the US (unfortunately sold in the past), I am still on the lookout for a Lakland to buy again and actually enjoy reading your posts every week.

Now I have a question: does anyone have experience with this configuration? It is a US model that is not quite close to where I live.

I am the original owner of that bass. It’s a 55-60 PJ USA Classic with vintage voiced lakland pickups. The finish is charcoal front metallic. I had Lakland make me a few of these when I was going for the Tully Kennedy PJ5 thing but still a Lakland fan boy. It was pretty mellow and sit in the mix nicely.

Just looking at Lakland’s new offerings on the website, they are now offering finished 55-94’s etc. for sale and now they have a 34” scale option along with the Classics at a reduced price from the Deluxe offerings. If I were to offer an educated guess they are going through some king of re-organizing their product lines. Lakland is a small company ( @ 12 employees?) NAMM is a costly endeavor for perhaps modest gains in sales. It;s difficult to “break through” the “noise” of the floor and the crowd. Itsim-ly not be affordable or practical for them to bother with it. Their target audience is closer to the Summer NAMM which has been in past years held in .Nashville

They haven't had a booth since the last Summer NAMM (2021). But John (President) attends regularly.

Pretty normal for small established brands. Lull, Genzler, Bergantino, all do the same.

Yes a tiny electrical tick when you touch the strings or bridge. Gain pot was partially up as well as maxed.

This is much better than before. The buzz is gone. That was the important part.

I’m not that concerned about it at this point, because I had the same type of “tick” on a bass for 35 years.

Could it be improved? Probably, but it’s something I’ll chase down another day.

Just to follow up on this:
I went looking for the last bit of noise. Turns out there were two things.

There was an exposed area on the neck pickup where foam had come off, and the ground wire at the bridge was barely touching. It was buried in the finish!

I pried out the wire and reinstalled the bridge, added some foam to cover the area of the pckup, and all is good!

Crazy how simple things can cause so many problems!

Its not new Gary. Dingwall has been a part of the Boutique Guitar Showcase for a while now, at least since 2022. If anything they are increasing their presence, they had one table with 3 basses in 2022, now they had a full corner with 10+ basses, a team of 8-10 people and many activities throughout the show. The Boutique Guitar Showcase also has roadshows in North America and Europe.
