Lakland Owners Group #69

Yeah, I may just stick with getting another 55-02 at some point because it's a known quantity for me, between my bad back and neck I'm finding certain neck and body profiles don't work anymore. Thanks, Jim

You cannot go wrong with a 55-02....I liked the DJ5 neck as well....just a bit different. If you can play one...do so.

Did the downsized body of the DJ5 effect the balance on a strap compared to the 55-60?

I've had a 55-60, 55-02 and DJ5. The 55-60 felt massive compared to the downsized bodies of the 02 and DJ5. I much preferred the downsized body, but it's obviously a personal preference. For reference, I'm 6'4". All balanced great. All great instruments in their own ways.

yeah, I miss my 55-02, sold it for a little trist with a Sire V75, great bass especially for the money but very chunky neck on the 5 strings, my hands could handle it but my bad neck couldn't. I'm really paying a lot of attention to the neck shape and depth of 5 stringers now. I want to just get down with 2 5 string basses nowadays, my Fbass and something else, probably another 55-02 but am interested in the DJ5 also. Jim

The opposite. The DJ5 neck is a tad thinner (flatter) than the 55-02 neck.

i had the opposite experience
I recently tried a dj5 and a 5502 at Bass Central and the dj5 ( which they were kind enough to take right out of the box) had a noticeably chunkier neck than the 5502

Loved them both!

I am back with Lakland ! I got myself an excellent condition 44-64 two-tone sunburst dated 2004 ( Korean manufactured )!!! She sounds absolutely fantastic ! What a great P Bass Tone ! I had a 44-64 custom a while ago and although I loved her a lot, I think I prefer my new acquisition tonewise! Really deep bass, thumpin tone! I have Helix Stainless steel on the beauty!
