So a question for the experts here, what is the difference in the neck feel between a 55-02 and a DJ5? I had a 55-02 for 10 years so I'm familiar with that but never played a DJ5. I had to let go a Sire V75 recently because the neck was aggravating a bad disc in my left side of my neck because of the fatness of the Sire neck, never had a problem with my 02. Is the DJ5 chunkier than a 55-02 and if so by how much? Thanks, Jim

The opposite. The DJ5 neck is a tad thinner (flatter) than the 55-02 neck.

Great weekend in the studio with my 55-64! That thing sounded MONSTROUS through my SansAmp VT-Bass pre and Greenboy F112!

LOL! I was just warming up in that pic. It was COLD here yesterday morning and was trying to get my hands limbered up. ;)

No, the F112 was miked up.. I recorded three tracks per song; 1 signal from my REDDI, one from the SansAmp output on the preamp and one from the mic on the cabinet. I monitored through headphones.

yes, but if you get a "good skyline", those are very close. there are more good US's than good skylines, naturally, but I've also had some US models that were just meh. (sorry LOG faithful, it's just me, I can't abide by passive jazz basses).

agreed...I have 2 Skylines currently (LOG bass and Scheff) and BOTH get plenty of play time!

The US models are truly awesome machines....but I love Skylines just as much.

I've said this many times....Skyline Vs. MIA Fender, MM or G&L (or many others?) ...for me - Skyline hands down much better...

Overall I've been exceptionally happy with my Lakland basses. The exception being the 55-60. I didn't like the sound of the stock electronics and replaced them with EMG J5s. Seriously, the 55-64 sounded incredible this weekend. I can't imagine I could have gotten a better sound out of a US made model. It beat out the MIA Sterling 5 I brought.

The "sound" of a US model would be identical. it is the exact same electronics...OK...wood and board wood may have an influence...but all things equal? no sound difference.

love the sound of my 55-64 LOG bass with the Hanson Vintage pickups....sound of my US PJ with the same pickups? pretty much identical....but the neck on the US PJ feels a bit nicer and "faster".
