Here it is! Juan Alderete's OTHER fretless Lakland DJ. Similar to the other one I own, with a few tweaks. First, the epoxy layer here is MUCH thinner. Next, the dots are pearloid. The body feels very matte, which is interesting. It does feel finished, though.
The pickup position may be further back. As you can see, it goes outside the pickguard. However, it looks pretty cool without the guard!!
I'm taking it to my local luthier for a total redo on the electronics. It's obviously been worked on...and poorly executed. Not a big deal. Either way, I'm excited!

The 55-60 is a nice bass, but if you ask anybody on this thread and they will tell you ALL Laklands are nice basses! A 55-60 will definitely do the job.

The b is nice and tight.... No issues.
I can point you to a guy who down tuned his without any issues.

I did that swap on my 55-94 when the Bart pre conked out on me - I like the LH3's better! A little punchier and detailed, to my ears.

Played at the Auckland Arts Festival in New Zealand this weekend. Used my 44-64 Custom PJ with flats along with my upright, and it delivered the low end 
good to play outdoors during Summer!

I just started experimenting with an NS EUB.
Yesterday, I went to a mini-concert/presentation by 2 local symphony orchestra players...it was pretty interesting.
Both of them had C extensions so they could get nice and LOW.
Their basses were definitely very nice...you could buy a very nice car for what their basses were worth!
Nice that you can play outside...still chilly here is Chi-town!
It's going to be in the 50's today- balmy!
I also have a 5 string NS EUB- had one of the NXT models before and foolishly sold it, got the CR version this time with the magnetic and piezo pickups. It's great, but I am definitely an electric bass player trying to play an upright...

Mine is a Christopher upright bass and I love it
