For Sale - Lakland US JO Jazz Bass Ice Blue This is a nice one I have for sale at a great price.

Beautiful bass, unfortunately a bit too rich for my blood at the present time. I'm looking more towards used Skylines or D Lakins.

Imo, It was not the best move to call this “cheaper” series Classic, since we all know Classics were alder 4(55)-94 with pickguards.

They are " less expensive".... Not "cheaper" ... Still USA Built and 100% in Chicago

The most useful recording sound I've found on the 4-94 is the 70s Jazz pickup soloed (pan to bridge pickup, coil switch set to bridge). It sounds thin dry, but with the smallest amount of amp onboard compression and some more aggressive playing, it fits into the mix wonderfully.

Find myself at the same settings with the bass up a bit the mid up a bit and the treble up until the string noise bothers me. Love this bass and this setting, some how always finds it way there.

So... I have been happily co-existing with my East & Nordstrand loaded DJ5 for some time now with no desire for anything else. No need as it covers everything I'd ever ask it to do. But I guess I'll always be the restless sort. I see classifieds every day, some expensive, some not so much but I hadn't been moved. Until this one. Not sure why. I don't love plain ash and never seen many spalts I liked. Yet this one. So like a moth to flame I started a conversation with the seller, he made me an offer I couldn't refuse and it'll be here next week. It's also coming with a set of Nordstrand Big Splits which makes me happy. Not been anything Nordstrand I've been unhappy with so I think they will make their way in to it soon. But I'll try it stock, as is, first. That said, I have yet to make friends with anything Bartolini so Im glad for the options.

So, while I have mulled some good looking 55-02's in the past but never sufficiently motivated to buy.

It'll be my first 55-01. What should I expect?

expect (no offense Lakland) to be underwhelmed by the tone due to poor pickups. Get some Nordstrands or Bart soaps in there pronto. IMO and YMMV
