Is it possible to be in Love with two basses at the same time? Dang it, I really am smitten with both of them.

I guess that means I am officially in a polygabass relationship :laugh: :thumbsup:

The Glaub through the Verellen is a beautiful combination. I have been thrilled with mine ever since I got my hands on it. As always Rick, your setup is first class.

The 400+ is a special amp in my opinion but I haven’t had any desire to play different amps since I acquired the Verellen.

The 44-64 has been hands down the most comfortable bass I’ve owned. Gigged it the other week and my guitar player came up to me after the show and said it was the first time he heard the bass really punch through. He was playing two Orange half stacks, so for him to hear it, it must have really cut.

Happy to hear you are still enjoying yours. That Glaub deserves to be played daily!

Just got back from rehearsal with The Rallies and the Glaub is just a-mazing. And the HB is really a special instrument too. I’ve played more than a few Skyline HB’s and this 2007 Korean specimen is just spectacular. It’s funny you made that comment - I still pick them both up every morning and play them unplugged for about an hour. Really inspiring instruments, both.
Glad your digging your Glaub thru the Verellen too. There’s just something special about that combo, IMHO.

This is my first post here!
I have a US JO4 from early 2000s and it is by far my all time favorite bass.

I am thinking of getting another US Lakland, a Bob Glaub (alder/rosewood) or a 4-94 (Ash/ebony). Any thoughts on which would be the best choice overall? Having already a JO what would be a better pair?

Depends.... I’m sure you’ve noodled on P basses and Stingrays before. The 4-94 can do a decent P sound as well as a Musicman, and even a decent jazz. The Glaub will do just the P.

Buy both, problem solved. And get one with birdseye fretboard :-D.

I know getting both would be great but not possible at the moment :rollno:

I know that the 4-94 is quite versatile but is it simply that, a "decent" P/J/Stingray as you mention?

I mean the Joe Osborn for example is an amazing Jazz bass with great tone. I know that the Bob Glaub is an equally amazing P. But how good is the 4-94/44-94?

I only said that in response to a previous post. As mentioned in my original post, I have a Joe Osborn and Super, Awesome, Amazing and Great are exactly how I would also describe it and Lakland in general from my experience. I am also seriously biased in this opinion. And I know how amazing is the BG as well. But I have no idea about the 4-94. So my question basically is how and what to choose between a Bob Glaub and a 4-94.

I'm not even sure how to say but as a recent Lakland acquisitor (55-02 Deluxe and 55-60 Custom - both Skylines), I spend all day, every day, playing them or thinking about playing them. Looking at them makes me want to pick them up and play. And ultimately when I do pick them up, I find I practice longer and work on more things across the fretboard as they are so easy to play. And yes, as the 55-94 is the US version of the 55-02, it has to be that great as the 55-02 is amazing. Just my $.08 (these are worth much more than a normal $.02 of opinion. ;) )

Personally opinion and experience. I have a 4460 and a 4464. Both are amazing and outstanding. I had a 494 and I sold it. It was really really good just not amazing. If I had the choice I would get the 4464. It does the p bass thing to perfection. The 494 does the stingrays HS (well technically the HS does the 494 thing as the 494 config was around much longer than the HS) really really well but for me not to perfection
