Lakland Owners Group #69

Nice surprise when I got home today - “Vintage” 4 Ply Red Tort :hyper:

Installed it right away on Funk #49 - Perfect!

Chandler Music / Pickguard Heaven did the work.
I’m keeping the original, but gigging her with the tort. Got 3 this week, starting Wednesday - festival season!

Yep. Black & Tort is my favorite...

Actually about to list my 44-60 FRETLESS that would be that one's twin...

the black jazz (MIM, active) has Nordy J-blades...amazing pickups with the original fender preamp.
It's my Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin bass.
the Hammersmith has the Big Blade Man, which is like 2 J-blades in the P sweet-spot. Neck is excellent on that bass, and its a perfect bass for modern country (which is what I use it for, along with the Roscoe P).
The Spectors are just not getting much play these days, but I love the big splits so they might get into the Zep or Petty rotation from time to time.

Does anyone have any experience of the 44-64 Classics vs the Skylines 44-64/BG?

As I documented above, just got hold of a 2008 Skyline BG, and it's very cool, sounds great but it's a tiny bit heavy. I've been talking to Brian about MAYBE having a Classic built instead, but it would certainly involve selling the Skyline.
If you have a 44-64 Classic, what is the Sunburst like on it? The website shows a very black to yellow finish, but I've seen a few pictures which are black to almost a dark red.

Any experiences or thoughts?

Cheers
Si
