Lakland Owners Group #69

Skyline weights are hit and miss, as to what is considered "within spec".
One of my first Lakland basses was a Skyline Bob Glaub sunburst. Its what got me hooked. Way back then, the burst was very conventional, very much like any other F----r. I doubt the recent ones are much different.

Finally got around to taking a few mediocre pics that were supposed to be part of my NBD post a few weeks ago. Honestly, I haven't been able to put it down. It's really spectacular!!! :hyper::bassist:

D*** you...
I'm waiting on delivery of my second Lakland, I'm a student again, I have no money, and you post pictures of my dream bass for, like, the last 10 years. I'm GASing sooooo hard right now.
D*** you...

No hard feelings, actually. Your joy doesn't cause me pain, enjoy it!

Do they still do humbucking Chisonics, or have they gone completely to single coils? I know the Skyline Decades are single coils, do they give you an option on the US stuff?

Peace,
SoundSupport

So actually my Skyline burst is lovely:

It's the US Classics that appear to be a little muted:

Whereas the website shows the 44-64 Classic as:

Hi soundsupport1! I'm glad there are no hard feelings between us. Even if there were, I have confidence we could work it out.

I don't know a whole lot about what they offer on a new build. I just got it used from a store, where it was available for probably a long time.

Sorry.. No more humbucker CHIs.... Shame!

They sound so great...

I get to go to Tokyo in a couple of weeks to teach a course and to attend a ceremony for a society of which i am the current Vice President.

I am VERY concerned (maybe:cool::thumbsup:) about coming back with a cool souvenir....but I am sure my wife would not be happy...

I hope to be able to play a Shoreline or 2 while there!

I’d love to hear your first hand impression of the Shorlines... I get that they are excellent basses... that’s not disputed, but they have a range just like US and Skyline... it’s not like F****r and the MIJ/CIJ “silver medal” status (i.e. US being Gold, MIM being Bronze, for a heavy handed analogy...). For the most part, MIJ/CIJ are made FOR export... The Shorline, not so much... they’re made for the Japanese market only...
