Lakland Owners Group #69

I hated that color until I saw the tort...now I want one...
:D Yeah, kinda' like Shoreline Gold (which I also love), but a little bit snappier. I like it more and more the longer I have it. I wasn't sure at first. It had a horrible set-up when I got it. But after getting everything how I like it, it sounds great. And I love the neck on this thing.

I’d love to hear your first hand impression of the Shorlines... I get that they are excellent basses... that’s not disputed, but they have a range just like US and Skyline... it’s not like F****r and the MIJ/CIJ “silver medal” status (i.e. US being Gold, MIM being Bronze, for a heavy handed analogy...). For the most part, MIJ/CIJ are made FOR export... The Shorline, not so much... they’re made for the Japanese market only...

Hopefully I'll be able to find a few in the "wild".... Worth a trophy hunt?

That's a question with many many levels....

I'm not sure whether I posted this before, but here's my Skyline J-Sonic Jazz. It came stock with a pale mint pickguard, but I had a brown tort made for it by Tony at Pickguardian. Aztec Gold. I love this thing!

Those are KILLER basses...

Interesting story... The prototype paint was mixed wrong.... They were after more if a "shoreline gold" but when it showed up they were all like " h&!! Yeah!"

I got to see the prototype... And said the same.

Love the CHIs

I happen to own the only US JO5CS.....

Not 100% true... But it is sn 001 and they changed the nominclature after that...

So... There are other US 5 strings with Chisonics but they are not classified as "JO5CS"

I just got one of these on the recommendation of GMan (Holdsg) for my DB.....

I MAY try it out with a few other basses although it's " set up for acoustic" instruments.

This is my very first indeavor into an external pre.... The selective mids still baffle me.... No clue there... But we'll see!

Peace Lakland Bros and sistas!

Just wanted to post my Lakland family pic. I had them all out at the same time to take photos because sadly the time has come to split up the pack. I pretty much only play the 55-02's but lately they've also been staying home as I've moved back to my SR5's for my current band.

The 55-01 and DJ5 will be go to market but selling the 55-64 is really giving me some heartburn. It's actually a factory fretless model but I did some neck swappin' with the burst 55-02 and a spare fretted rosewood neck and ended up like this.

Anyway just sort of a sentimental post. Hope ya'll don't mind.

Awesome family picture!

Sorry the family had to be split up!

A Fretless 5564 would be really cool!

Nice! Speaking of external pre, here’s mine. Great headphone amp for silent practicing, auxiliary in for mixing external source. Compressor is very good one knob type. Drive is there if you want to add some grit but I did not buy it for that. Dig out is very good also.

Nice! So many awesome choices. Which one do gravate towards if you just go on first urge to pick up and play?
