No affiliation, fyi, although they are local-ish. I just like the purty pictures :D

^ It's completely irrational, I know, but I've never liked the look of a wood-stained exotic wood top on a Lakland (I don't mean like a cherry-burst quilt-top). I suspect it's the body-shape, but if a Lakland isn't painted or burst colored, it just looks wrong to me. The same way that a solid-colored Fodera would just look all kinds of wrong.

I know, I know - irrational, but those two basses don't look like Laklands to me.

I’ve never cared for the burl this or blah blah that (exotic top) on a Lakland either. But, I’ve owned two basses now with redwood sandwich bodies and they both KILT IT!! So, there must be something to it! The swamp ash component must be present though! All my favorites have had swamp ash in the equation!

I almost bought one of those Warwick redwood burl's a few years back - they're sick! But Warwick is a bass I expect to have a wood-stained finish - it looks right. A painted Warwick looks gross.

FYI, a Warwick 2006 LTD Dirty Blonde is my unicorn bass. I've never owned one and any time I've had the ability to own one, they've not come up for sale.

This may be an odd request but I wondering if any of you guys knew where I could find the old sound samples of the Jerry Scheff model that used to be on the Lakland website. I tried searching around for them but to no avail. There’s a scheff in reverb I’m very interested in but I’d like to hear the bass again and there’s no good sound samples anywhere else.
