Lakland Owners Group #69

This may be an odd request but I wondering if any of you guys knew where I could find the old sound samples of the Jerry Scheff model that used to be on the Lakland website. I tried searching around for them but to no avail. There’s a scheff in reverb I’m very interested in but I’d like to hear the bass again and there’s no good sound samples anywhere else.
If you were in front of me, I’d grab you by the shoulders and scream “Get it!!!” w/ my eyes all huge and crazy, spit flying, sweat drops forming on my bald head... sound clips will sound like someone else playing a bass.

You’ll love it!! A Scheff sounds like no other but also drops right in the mix magically.

I’m certainly working on it. Just gotta move some gear first. I’ve wanted one for a long time but haven’t tried one yet. I think it’s time to cannonball into the pool instead of dipping my toe in.

Any descriptions of the tone would be appreciated though. Just to get an idea of what to expect.

Growly when you want, smooth and fat too, depending on hand position, attack, and pickup panning. I leave both pickups full on and let my plucking hand dig whatever tone I want out of my stainless DR Hi Beams. It’s the growliest bass I have and also one of the most versatile.

What are the serial numbers of the US 44-14/44-94 models in recent years?
It's easy to distinguish the older 4-94 model and the newer deluxe one but is there a way to check if it is the classic 44-14 or the standard 44-94?

I believe the 44-14 serial # would begin with 44... the 55-14’s do (begin with 55)

Which one would you choose? Barts, SDs od LH? :)

I think that's used....I think that had been owned by a couple of people

Really? It appeared in an article in the german Bass magazine a few years back, and there's no mention of it being used on the website...
And the price is preposterous, frankly. I tried to order a Lakland through them a while back and they just blew me off, so I went to one of their main rivals. Ha.
Who sent me the wrong bass, but I have never read a more apologetic email than the one they sent me after I told them. Also getting a biiiig discount on the right Lakland when it arrives in March. First production run of 55-02s in 2019, apparently.

yippee!

Peace,

I can vouch for that. I reached out to lakland about getting a skyline re-plekked and they said they were working on a large batch on new basses that had just come in.
