I got my 55-64 from Mike Quick at Quickguards. He has most Lakland models covered and you can pick your material.
I also got my 55-01 “Music Man” inspired guard from him.

Communicating with Mike to get a Lakland PG is much easier than it was with other companies in the past to get them. That usually involved getting on the phone, listening to an older couple argue with each other while on the line, and feeling really uncomfortable for duration of the call. The end products were good, though. Sometimes you gotta suffer for your art, I suppose.
Is this a US or Skyline DJ5? I know almost all are Skylines, but I’ve seen a few US DJ4s.
Fretwire size used to be on the website, before the site revamp. The website went downhill with the revamp, I might add. Hopefully, it will improve in the near future.
If you can’t get the exact size, PM me and I will use my digital calipers to measure the frets on my non-DJ Laklands for you.
i'm sure they're out there and i haven't noticed, but anyone have a 44-94 with block inlays? i only seem to see the 94 series with dots. I'm interested to see what they look like with blocks!

Thank you. It’s an Indonesian Skyline. And I appreciate your offer. But no worries. I’m early days on this plan. Thinking that Lakland might sell me a few pre curved frets if I inquired.
You can try, but I doubt they will sell pre-cut and pre-curved frets. What you need is dependent on how you plan to fret the neck: hammer, press, or even the rarely used slide in method. A slight over curve is generally recommended for hammering while the exact radius frets w/ glue is typically used when pressing them in. Re-fretting is not easy. If you don’t have the tools to cut and radius your own frets, you probably wouldn’t want to tackle the job. I’ve done about 7 refrets and have yet to try tackling the tiny fretwire Lākland uses. It will not be as forgiving as larger wire.
I have most of the tools, including a means to press. And I’ve done regluing, leveling, crowning, ends, etc so I’m not uncomfortable with the work at all. I’m a couple tool away from everything I’d need. Getting something correct from the mfg would just simplify things a bit.
After upgrading the pre in my 55-01 early in the COVId days, I decided the MK1 pickups just still weren’t cutting it for me. I decided on a set of Nordstrand Big Splits and now I’m faced with a decision on whether I’m going to have to move this one up in the hierarchy! “Big” is a bit of an understatement as these sound massive.
it's a toss up for me as to favorite Nordstrand pickup between the Big Splits and the Jazz Blades.

I have used Big Singles, Jazz Bars and a MM 4.2 Dual coil. All of the Nordstrand pups I have used blew me away. Love them.
