Others will know for sure, but I believe all the US Laklands still get fretwork done by hand. PLEK seems to work fine for lots of builders and the import Laklands. I’m partial to hand work since it’s what I do and what my favorite Laklands sport.

Many Lakland 55-94’s run right around 8.5-8.7. Some of the later 55-02’s are a bit heavier so you got a exceptional one.
The necks are amazingly well balanced and the body is smaller so they just feel better than many other boutique basses. The neck shape
and fretwork make them very comfortable in your hands.

I love my Classic Stingray, but I’d gladly trade any of the other lines with 3 band preamp for a pre-2k 55-94. Good job!

My 2022 55-02 is 9.2 pounds with perfect balance on strap. That’s really the magic weight for me. Any heavier is too heavy and any lighter will cause neck dive on me.

For sure the 35” Scale 5 String neck needs a counterbalance. I solve that issue with the Gruv Gear Duo Strap. It provides an additional balance point. Just my take of course.

Got my first US Lakland. 44-60. Could not be happier. On roar sound 1-10 scale where 1 is pocket dildo and 10 is locomotive diesel engine, is reaches 12. What a beautiful bass.

I'm curious. A few months ago I owned a 2007 44-02 and 2015 44-94 and compared the two and posted pictures. I was surprised by all the little differences.

I did. I just never felt comfortable with it. I bought a 2019 44-02 and I am very happy with it.
