Lakland Owners Group #69

From a sound/voice perspective, is there a valid reason to have a 55-94 and a 55-dual j?
I have a 55-94 now and in passive with the switch in the back position, is that not the same as the 55- dual j?
Any insight from someone who owns both?

Yes. A 55-94 doesn't get you the same jazz bass single coil sound that a 55-JJ does. I even tried special ordering a jazz pickup in a MM shell from Lakland and it still could not do it.

I 100% agree...I've had both and still do...
Different sounds....

Same great quality

I have owned 55-94 in the past...I loved the neck, body shape, look, but did not bond with the 'lektronix. I ended up with a 54 dual J with a pair of Chi Sonics. It has been my unequivocal #1 since I received it. It sounds VERY different from the MM/J active setup.

I've been G.A.S.less for a while now when it comes to basses but this specimen has me hankering for something different! That's a beaut and I bet it sounds amazing!

Hey all. I’m am looking to add a pickguard to my natural 44-02. Brian from Lakland has one. I was looking for off white but he has mint. Does anyone have a mint pickguard on their bass and can you post a picture. I’ve seen them on other basses and they don’t look that mint in color. But colors are funny and could look different. Thanks so much!

Never mind. Brian sent me some photos of what it would look like.

Indeed she does (I call her Clementine). I don't have current bass GAS....but if someone forced me to order a new custom, it'd be the same bass, in a different colour, with the same pups clumped together at the P position to function like a 'bucker, with a series/parallel toggle/vol/tone.
