I got a fantastic deal on one that one listed as "damaged" for sweetwater. The original customer complained of an unidentified rattling noise, which ended up just being the pickups rattling. Easy fix.

I haven't found the right strings yet, and need to make some setup adjustments. But here are my thoughts in short. I originally got this thinking it was going to be a Hofner with an adjustable bridge. I loved my Contemporary Club Bass, but could never intonate it right. But this bass is so much more versatile than a Hofner.

• The pickups are fantastic. I find the bridge pickup on Hofners to be unusable on its own, but every pickup configuration on this guitar is great. Very quiet for single coils and they take fuzz and distortion very well.
• I personally love the aesthetic. Retro, but somehow futuristic. Inspired but not derivative. Small but looks great on the player. This is an important consideration for me: I found the diminutive body of the Chowny SWB-1 looked a bit goofy strapped on and sold it even though it was a great player.
• Weight is perfect. Light but still substantial and balanced.
  
• Build quality is great.

There is so much tone to be had with this bass. Seems a real shame to just slap flat wounds on it and call it a modern Beatle bass. Once I find the right strings and setup I hope to make a decent video demo.

For the price I paid, I will not let go of this guitar easily. I hope some more people pick this bass up to see what I mean.

I have looked everywhere in Europe for this bass, but haven't found one. Would be much appreciated if someone directed me towards one.

Cobalt Flats are the way to go for HB's, IMHO.
