I have, past tense, owned at least one of each model. Several of certain models. I am sure of that.

Current owner of a Bob Glaub USA, which is my main squeeze P-bass.

Been playing Laklands for years, love 'em and have owned 55-94's 55-01, 55-02 and now my 44-02. Spoke several times with Dan Lakin who was always available and helpful. He always told me the ideal weight for their basses best tone was about 9 to 9.5 lbs though I was always asking for lighter basses. For the last few years I have played the deluxe 44-02 with Barts and maple board, but now have the rosewood with standard top and Lakland pups and preamp. Preferred the frets on the Korean 4402 Skyline although my current bass has been Plek'd and plays really nice. Love the Hanson electronics too. Hoping someday for a 44-94, but I'm pretty happy with what I have. Like the Pedigo neck treatment, but also like the orange oil with bowling alley wax at the end, but am currently using Tung oil hand rubbed on the back of the neck. Prefer 34" scale and have heard that you could now order a 55-94 with a 34" scale. If anyone's got one, would love to hear about it.

Is that Tung oil over the poly or did you strip the neck first?

Interesting to hear about your preference for "34. I'm the opposite. I've come to like 35" even on a 4 (though most my basses are 34") so when I found my Carlo (basically a 4-94 with 35") I had to have it!

I used steel wool on the neck first (no sandpaper) and then applied the Tung oil. I also like doing the steel wool and using the bowling alley wax as well though the Tung oil has a great feel to me. I do miss the neck on the 55-94...

Could not be happier, the search if over, until I can try a DJ5 that is.

I have a 55-01 and want to maybe try USA neck treatment to it.

Wow! I have a 55-02 that I bought used and was always happy with it. Few weeks ago, the local GC had an used USA Lakland (44-94, as I recall) and the neck was really silky, much more than my 55-02. Was tempted but had too many other bills to deal with so I passed on it.

Very cool. I've been a fan since discovering Lakland shortly after joining TB a decade ago. I have 3 US Lakies and a Skyline. I have only been by once in the past year or so (to see Carl only, as it was a Saturday), but have been to the shop many times. It's run by a bunch of great guys.

Me too... I have discovered so much from this site. I am hoping to be able to get a U.S. soon.. but for right now my 55-01 is my main player.

I got my first one from a Japanese guy the CEO of the national Hitachi branch in 2007, it was a MIJ Shoreline 4-94 Std,
- then a MIJ Shoreline 55-94 Classic, also from him
- then a MIA 55-94 Standard - the body was order had been made for an artist who never claimed it,
- then I ordered a MIA 55 Dual J Classic fretless passive,
- then came a MII P5 LOG LE that Carl upgraded for me for a PJ5 VT/VT with USA treatment to the neck and a bone nut,
- then a LH-3 stompbox Carl made for me, the last one he ever did
- and a MIJ Shoreline 55-94 Deluxe that I barely played because
- immediately emerged an early MIA 4-94 Deluxe with a rare flame maple top
- then an artist owned MIK Skyline 55-02 with all black USA Hipshot hardware
Then I wasn't playing guitars only for a few years and am currently lack-Lakland
But now I'm getting back to bass, and there's no reason it will be anything else but Lakland

I love mySkyline. I have 5 others, (Ibenez, Fender) and this is my daily driver.

Plays like butter.

The 5594 is one of my all time favorite basses but it has been many years since I had one... their prices have moved out of my comfort zone for the used ones but one day I would like to score a keeper to hold onto into my doting years....
