Laney RB-5 combo - opinions?

I'm thinking of upgrading from my Orange Crush 35B to something with a bit more power and flexibility.

I play an el-cheapo Westfield Fusion bass in a church band. We try to keep the volume on stage as low as possible and let the PA do the hard work, so mainly I'm looking for something that lets me hear myself over the drummer (who mostly plays with rods btw) and is fairly portable.

The Laney RB-5 looks like a good buy purely based on price and features, but does anyone have any experience with it?

There was a recent thread comparing the Laney combo's with something else. A quick search should bring it up. Honestly, not many TB members have much expirience with Laney products, I know I don't. Anyway, find that thread, and good luck.

When I'm jamming around dudes houses, I use a Laney RB9 and a custom Eminence 1x12, just due to the practicality. It competes well with the guitarists 50 Top (all valve 50 watt head) and the drummer.

If the RB5 has sounds similar to the RB9 (probably will do) then the tone produced is great, and the prices are very good as well.
